Shaping The Future Of Broadcast With Rohde & Schwarz

News Image
At IBC2025 (stand 8.B70, Amsterdam RAI, 12 - 15 September) Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate its leadership in the key challenges and opportunities facing broadcasting.

It will highlight how technology makes today's services efficient and sustainable, and opens the way to new, exciting and engaging consumer experiences.
To remain relevant, broadcast television must deliver new benefits for viewers while achieving ever-higher standards of efficiency. Rohde & Schwarz at IBC2025 will show broadcasters how they can seize upon a whole range of valuable new revenue opportunities.

5G Broadcast is a key platform for delivering immersive multimedia content, a powerful opportunity for the next generation of broadcasting. Demonstrations on the stand will show the potential for immersive real time entertainment and added value content and also show how 5G Broadcast can enhance public safety by delivering critical multimedia alerts including text, images and live video, straight to mobile devices.

The latest radio and television transmitters will be on display, focusing on engineering for extremely high reliability, while at the same time delivering unprecedented efficiency levels. Supporting the latest standards in television and radio, Rohde & Schwarz transmitters deliver energy efficiency as high as 50%, a remarkable achievement which makes a sizeable reduction in a business’s carbon footprint as well as slashing lifecycle costs through greatly reduced power consumption.

Alongside the terrestrial transmitter range will be the compact R&S®PKU100 Ku-band satellite uplink amplifier. It is the perfect match for a straightforward 1-by-1 replacement of aging tube-based amplifiers into existing system architectures. Turning your ground segment into a future-ready platform, the R&S®PKU100, with its modern solid-state design, is extremely resilient, enhanced with unique features like self-protection and self-monitoring, which enables reliable and effortless operation while minimising operational costs.

"In light of the evolving nature of media consumption, there is broad recognition that broadcast television and radio offer real advantages in terms of coverage, accessibility, and efficiency," said Steven Edwards, Vice President, Broadcast Distribution at Rohde & Schwarz. "But that alone is not enough. What we have done is bring the latest technologies and design techniques, and emerging broadcast standards, to build products which are forward-looking and agile, which deliver uncompromised quality with incredible energy efficiency, and of course retain the Rohde & Schwarz reputation for stability and reliability over an extended working life."

The IBC stand will also feature a dedicated stage hosting a series of R&S Tech Talks. These sessions will bring together subject matter experts and panels to explore key topics in transmission—ranging from business models and monetisation strategies to the roll-out of 5G Broadcast and practical insights from ATSC 3.0 deployments in the USA and Brazil.

"We invest in IBC to help ensure the industry is equipped to lead the future of broadcasting—and to show how we can support that evolution," said Edwards. "Join us to speak with our product experts, experience the latest demonstrations, and discover new opportunities for services and revenue. If you drop by on Sunday afternoon, we’ll even have beer and snacks available while the conversation continues."

Pixel Power, a Rohde & Schwarz company, is exhibiting at IBC on stand 7.B23, where visitors can see software-defined solutions for playout, automation and monitoring, based on the PRISMON, Gallium and StreamMaster platforms. The Rohde & Schwarz broadcast transmission products can be found on stand 8.B70.
