Encoda Systems acquires Arkemedia Techologies

Encoda Systems has acquired Arkemedia Technologies, a UK based digital asset management (DAM) solution provider specifically focused on the media industry.
The acquisition expands Encoda’s leadership in providing end-to-end broadcast and agency solutions by enabling the company’s customers to leverage the powerful workflow capabilities of Arkemedia’s suite of DAM solutions.
The acquisition will tighten product synergies by accelerating the integration of Arkemedia DAM capabilities within Encoda’s full suite of Media Management, Automation and Agency product offerings.
Collaboration of development activities between the two companies has been ongoing for the past year. At IBC 2003 the companies demonstrated an integrated solution combining Arkemedia’s digital asset management tools with Encoda’s broadcast automation and program management solutions. The first product available for general customer release, a dynamic integration between the Encoda D-Series broadcast automation solution and Arkemedia’s advanced DAM database, content ingest manager and workflow functionality, is currently being readied for introduction at IBC 2004.
Don Doctor, Chairman of the Board of Encoda Systems said: “Strategically for Encoda Systems, the addition of Arkemedia allows us to extend our leadership in media management, automation and agency solutions by providing our customers a truly effective integrated digital asset management capability that aids global sales, marketing, syndication, distribution and delivery of content.
“It is extremely difficult to tap into the revenue benefits of a DAM solution without tightly integrating it into the other key applications along the digital media supply chain, such as program management and transmission automation systems. With the Arkemedia acquisition, Encoda is now uniquely positioned to offer our customers a genuinely seamless integration.”
Arkemedia Technologies will operate as a separate line of business within the Encoda group of companies. Terms of the transaction were not released.
