The Horror Channel names cult figure as Head of Programming

The Horror Channel has appointed renowned cult horror writer, producer and director Jonathan Sothcott as Head of Programming.
Hailed as ‘Britain’s leading cult writer’ by In Print magazine, Sothcott takes responsibility for securing all movies and programmes for the new BSkyB channel, which launches on May 3, as well as overseeing the channel’s original programming.
Sothcott was previously a journalist for ‘Fangoria’, ‘The DarkSide’ and ‘The Grapevine’ magazines; wrote the book ‘The Cult Films of Christopher Lee,’ and produced and directed various horror documentaries.
He has also provided DVD commentaries for horror films including ‘The Man Who Haunted Himself’, ‘Dr Terror’s House of Horrors’, ‘Frankenstein & The Monster From Hell’ and ‘Jack the Ripper’ as well as mainstream titles including ‘Dr Who & The Daleks’, ‘Summer Holiday’ and ‘The Wild Geese’.
The Horror Channel Managing Director Tony Hazell comments: “Jonathan recognises exactly which films horror buffs want to see. His excellent contacts in the industry mean The Horror Channel has access to more of the best horror movies than anyone else.”
