S4C WINS CHARTER MARK AWARD FOR SECOND TIME

S4C have retained their Charter Mark Award for excellence in public service for another three years.
This year the Judging Panel concluded that S4C continues to provide exceptionally high quality service to users. Special attention was drawn to the effectiveness of the S4C Viewers’ Hotline, the service which deals daily with viewers’ queries; the substantial increase in circulation outside Wales of the S4C Viewers’ Magazine, Sgrîn, which coincides with an in the number of people who are able to receive S4C Digital over the border; and the greater use of the web-page as a means of communicating with viewers.
Charter Marks are awarded by an independent Judging Panel, appointed by the Government to assess the quality of public service provided by a plethora of organisations and public service providers. Three years ago, S4C became the first Welsh broadcasters to win the coveted prize.
S4C’s Chief Executive, Huw Jones said: “This award is not easily achieved. Renewing the Charter Mark is a sign of S4C’s intention to be open and accountable when dealing with the public and its own staff. I’m grateful to every member of the S4C staff who, by being efficient at their work, have helped to win the award for the second time.” (CD)
