S4C Chief Executive Geraint Evans has welcomed the UK Government's Green Paper on the BBC Charter Review, highlighting its commitment to the long-term sustainability and independence of the Welsh-language broadcaster.

The Green Paper outlines proposals for the future of the BBC and associated public service broadcasters, including S4C, and addresses issues of governance, funding and public value. In response, Evans подчеркнул the importance of securing a stable and independent future for S4C that reflects its evolving role within the media landscape.

"S4C welcomes the UK Government's Green Paper on the BBC Charter Review and the commitment it makes to a sustainable future for S4C, based on the service’s independence and the provision of sufficient funding," said Evans.

He added that S4C's ambitions extend beyond traditional broadcasting. "Our vision for S4C is more than a TV channel; it is a digital-first service that enables collaboration across the creative sector and supports a thriving Welsh language and a thriving Wales."

Evans also stressed the significance of the review process in shaping the broadcaster's long-term direction. "This review is crucial to laying strong foundations for S4C’s future, and we look forward to working closely with the Government and other partners to deliver that vision for the benefit of audiences and the creative sector across Wales."

The BBC Charter Review process is expected to play a key role in determining the future structure and funding arrangements for public service broadcasting in the UK.
