Broadcast Technology announces compact MPEG-2 decoders

Broadcast Technology has announced a new series of compact MPEG-2 decoders.
Three versions are available, each occupying a single slot in the DTRS 3000 chassis. Equipped with 4:2:0 component analogue video and analogue audio inputs, the DTVD 3010 offers a highly cost-efficient solution to single or multichannel video monitoring. The DTVD 3020 is an exceptionally versatile monitoring decoder with 4:2:0 analogue input and SDI outputs. Designed for use in broadcast transmission contribution, the DTVD 3030 provides broadcast-quality 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 decoding with multiple video and audio inputs and outputs.
Compact modular construction makes the DTVD 3000 decoders ideally suited for digital television head-ends and rebroadcast networks where space is at a premium. Up to 14 modules can be housed in a single DTRS 3000 chassis occupying only 3U of rack space. Power consumption is just 8W per module, meaning very low running cost. Dual DVB ASI input or ASI loopthrough is optional for all DTVD 3000 modules.
The DTVD 3000 series incorporates many new features including BISS mode 1 and E fixed-key descrambling, vertical blanking interval signal processing, AFD subtitling and teletext. An on-screen display shows service descriptor, video PES bit rate, audio level indication, teletext presence, subtitling presence and video aspect ratio. A mix of cards from Broadcast Technology's 3000 series of DVB receivers, MPEG decoders, switchers and DAs can be accommodated in the DTRS 3000 chassis. This allows receiver systems to be structured for a wide variety of applications ranging from single channel acquisition to fully reliable, redundant multi-channel configurations. Typical 3000 series solutions occupy only a quarter the rack space and power requirements of comparable IRD-based implementations. Each card is hot-swappable and can be controlled via RS-232 or SNMP.
The DTVD 3000 series modules will make their first exhibition appearance at the NAB 2004 Convention in Las Vegas, April 19-22.
