Netflix To Produce New True Crime Anthology Series

Netflix is to produce a brand new scripted true crime anthology series, 'Historia de un Crimen'.

The series will tackle notorious controversial crimes that have rocked countries for decades, generated social turmoil and triggered charges of corruption and a search for justice.

"Crime is a very popular genre across the globe, and we're excited to bring Netflix members everywhere this new take on anthology series with an international twist."

The first series will depict the case of Luis Donaldo Colosio, the Mexican politician and presidential candidate who was assassinated at a campaign rally in Tijuana during the Mexican presidential campaign of 1994.

It is produced by Dynamo for Netflix and will star Jorge A. Jiménez ('Narcos', 'Machete Kills', 'Hermoso Silencio'), Ilse Salas ('Cantinfla's, 'Sr Avila'), Alberto Guerra ('Ingobernable', 'El Señor de los Cielos'), Gustavo Sánchez Parra ('Amores Perros', 'Man on Fire'), Martín Altomaro ('Mita y Mita', 'Rudo y Cursi'), Lisa Owen ('El Señor de los Cielos', 'Los Insólitos Peces Gato') and Ari Brickman ('Sense8', 'Instructions not Included').

'Historia de un Crimen: Colosio' will be produced by Andrés Calderón and Juan Uruchurtu, and directed by Hiromi Kamata and Natalia Beristáin.

The eight-episode season is set to begin production this week in Mexico City and will be available exclusively to Netflix members around the world in 2019.
