Vizrt Graphics Enable Girraphic To Stage Netflix MMA Debut

News Image
Vizrt said global broadcast design specialist Girraphic chose its graphics platform to deliver Netflix’s debut MVP MMA event, powering both the in-venue show and the live stream.

Staged at the 18,000-seat Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, the production used venue-wide visuals to immerse the crowd, while the Netflix transmission brought viewers at home closer to the action.

Long-time Vizrt partner Girraphic designed and operated every element, from the arena’s Halo Board and LED displays to augmented reality (AR) graphics. "In live sports, you never know what’s going to happen. That anticipation brings fans to the edge of their seats, and visual elements on every screen should meet the magic of the moment. By counting on Vizrt technology, our teams were able to bring our collective vision to life, engaging the Netflix MMA fans in the venue and at home," said Nathan Marsh, GIRRAPHIC CEO, North/South America.

A single, unified graphics workflow let the team serve both the Netflix audience and fans in the building from one control point, reflecting the industry shift toward producing more outputs for more audiences with limited extra resources. "Every team creating a live sports experience are faced with the same growing challenges: serving multiple audiences, who watch from multiple devices and points of view, at once. This demands incredible creativity and collaboration, so the right technology must be flexible without ever compromising on quality," said Andrew O'Neil, SVP Sports Strategy & Growth, Vizrt.

At the core was Viz Engine 5, Vizrt's real-time 3D rendering and compositing system, paired with Viz Multiplay to drive video walls and multi-screen playout.

With Viz Multiplay, operators controlled every display via a single interface, delivering playout in any aspect ratio while preserving high visual quality for spectators from the front row to the upper tiers.

The setup combined pre-rendered animation, live video feeds and real-time broadcast graphics into one pipeline, simplifying the management of giant LED canvases and ensuring rock-solid reliability.

As stadiums and arenas increasingly host concerts, sport and other live events back-to-back, the adaptable workflow helps crews switch looks, sponsors and formats quickly. Backed by Vizrt's tools and Girraphic's creative expertise, each live show can feature distinctive AR and LED treatments tailored to its audience.
