Movietech Deploys VENICE Camera On Upcoming Gavin Hood Film

Movietech has deployed its recently acquired Sony VENICE, supporting cinematographer Florian Hoffmeister BSC on acclaimed director Gavin Hood's upcoming film 'Official Secrets'.

The work on Official Secrets is the Sony VENICE's first ever outing on a European feature.

Official Secrets, which stars Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes is based around the true story of Katharine Gun, the former British intelligence Mandarin translator at GCHQ who made headlines surrounding the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Movietech are servicing the Yorkshire based production with a comprehensive camera and lens package based around the VENICE.

A powerful addition to the range of cutting-edge imaging technology available at the company's Pinewood Studios base, the highly acclaimed VENICE is the first dedicated full-frame, large format digital camera system from Sony.

Speaking about the project, Movietech Managing Director John Buckley said: "This is the very first time the VENICE has been used on a feature in Europe. Naturally we are extremely proud to be providing Florian with both the camera and lens package for the shoot. The Sony is proving to be an important investment for us, we're delighted with the interest it has generated not only from our colleagues in features but from all areas of our industry."
