Leader Products Selected For Sports OB

A total of 70 Leader test instruments have been selected to deliver signal monitoring at a large sports OB project this year.

Approximately 90 nations will compete in over 100 tournaments embracing 15 disciplines, and many of these events will be captured in HDR 3840 x 2160 pixel UHD, as well as SDR 1920 x 1080 pixel HD for relay to broadcast networks around the world.

The instruments chosen consist of 32 LV5490 waveform monitors and 38 LV5770A 3G/HD/SD multi-monitors, all to be supplied via Leader's UK-based rental channel partner Presteigne Broadcast Hire.

"This is by any standards a very large project and a great vote of confidence in the excellence of these instruments," said Kevin Salvidge, Leader's European Regional Development Manager. "The sporting events will be produced in 4K HDR and distributed to the rapidly increasing number of broadcasters able to handle this advanced signal format. The LV5490 and LV5770A between them provide all the facilities required for camera alignment, live colour balancing and the wide variety of signal measurements that have to be made when setting up and operating large-scale outside-broadcast projects. Most will be installed for use in the main technical control centre, with the balance integrated into mobile production vehicles located at the various event venues. Both instruments are equipped with high quality picture monitors and can be fully controlled either from the front panel or remotely."
