Cengiz Dervis Welcomes Growth In Creative Sector

News Image
British actor Cengiz Dervis has welcomed the continuing growth of the creative sector.

In the second half of 2016 alone, figures reveal that the (combined) TV, film, and music industry increased by more than 10% in the UK.

Digitally savvy consumers are said to be underpinning the growth but directors, acting casts, and behind-the-scene professionals are also performing well. A number of blockbusters last year were shot in the UK, while the independent film scene is also continuing to thrive.

Cengiz Dervis commented: "The UK has a long history of being a place where the arts can shine and be celebrated, the latest figures cement that position. The arts promote creativity, give people an outlet to express their views, and can even help build bridges between different cultures. In today's world, the place of the arts in our society are more important than ever. A film, song, or performance that brings people together shouldn't be underestimated."

The actor also noted that the growing arts industry has a positive impact on tourism and the economy.

"The fact that the arts are growing at such a pace, even when there's uncertainty in the UK economy, shows resilience," he added. "It highlights just how far the positive impact of the creative sector can reach and the need to keep nurturing the talent."
