EditFest London Has the Force

American Cinema Editors has announced that Paul Hirsch, ACE, will be part of EditFest London, taking place on 25 June, at the British Film Institute's Southbank location.

Mr Hirsch will participate in a one-on-one conversation moderated by CinemaEditor Magazine's international editor Adrian Pennington.

Paul Hirsch, ACE is a prolific, respected and award winning editor, whose credits include over 40 films. Highlights of his varied career include Star Wars, for which he won an Academy Award, and The Empire Strikes Back.

He has worked on 11 films with Brian de Palma including Carrie, Blowout and Mission: Impossible; four for Herbert Ross, including Footloose, The Secret of My Success and Steel Magnolias; three for John Hughes, including Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Planes, Trains & Automobiles; and Falling Down for Joel Schumacher. In 2005, he received his second Academy Award nomination for Ray, a biopic based on the life of Ray Charles, directed by Taylor Hackford.

He is fluent in a variety of genres - drama, action, horror, musical comedy, fantasy, suspense, mystery and comedy. He recently edited Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, directed by Brad Bird, and just completed Warcraft, his second picture with director Duncan Jones. He is at work on The Mummy directed by Alex Kurtzman and starring Tom Cruise. In addition to his recognition by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, Hirsch has won ACE Eddies, Saturn Awards, and has been nominated for a BAFTA Award.

EditFest puts top-level film and television editors in an intimate setting to share their insights and experiences with colleagues, post production professionals, students, content creators, production execs, and those who love the art and craft of editing. The day presents a rare opportunity to listen to world-class artists then mingle with them over lunch and at a post-conference cocktail reception.

The full schedule for EditFest London will be announced shortly. As always, EditFest will feature editors who have contributed to the most popular television and feature film titles. Past outings have included icons Terry Rawlings, ACE; Anne V. Coates, ACE; Alan Heim, ACE alongside today's editing stars such as Eddie Hamilton, ACE; Tim Porter; and Mary Jo Markey, ACE. This year, plans are underway to add an additional panel to complement the Film and Television editor's panels and the One on One discussion

EditFest proudly welcomes back Platinum sponsor Blackmagic Design and Gold sponsor Avid. EditFest London is produced in collaboration with the British Film Institute.
