Short films tour to showcase new filmmaking talent

Hot new British film talent is to be showcased to audiences in 21 cities across the UK under the banner 'Big Stories | Small Flashes' funded by the Film Council’s New Cinema Fund.
Ricky Tomlinson, Paddy Considine and Ray Winstone are among the famous names supporting a new generation of film talent from across the UK. They are all appearing in short films as part of the tour programme, helping to push creative and technical boundaries of filmmaking and attracting industry talent seekers this month.
All nine films in the programme were shot on digital, made for £10,000 or less and were funded by Lottery cash as part of the Film Council’s New Cinema Fund and regional and national partners’ Low Budget Digital Shorts Scheme which seeks to support new film talent.
The distribution of the films and the tour is managed by short films specialist Short Circuit Films.
Big Stories | Small Flashes highlights the profile of new British filmmakers, with films such as the BAFTA award nominated 'Bouncer' by director Michael Baig-Clifford which is screening as part of the tour.
“Short films are the best way to allow filmmakers to be experiment and push the boundaries of narrative filmmaking,” said Paul Trijbits, head of the New Cinema Fund. “Digital brings the advantages of making film production and distribution more accessable to new talent and audiences across the UK.”
The tour will visit London, Hull, Hastings, Hereford, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Gloucester, Edinburgh, Falmouth, Worcester, Cambridge, Exeter, Manchester, Ipswich, Brighton, Derby, Lancaster, Kendal and Liverpool.
