Danish Company Helps Boost Laser TV Technology Sales In China

Danish electronic manufacturer dnp denmark is helping to boost sales of Laser TV technology in China, it has been announced.

The company has been partnering Hisense to provide the screen fabric for the company's new optical flat screen application.

dnp denmark was first contacted by Hisense in 2013, after it was encouraged by the Danish company's advanced optical screen fabric technology and their major business activities in mainland China.

In addition, Hisense had also been aware of parent company Dai Nippon Printing's high quality performance-enhancing colour and contrast filters. With these unique functions the image quality will achieve the most stringent requirements of the residential sector.

Referring to the advanced optical performance of the fabric in high ambient light conditions, Soeren Kraemmergaard, dnp denmark's VP Global Sales & Marketing, confirmed that his company owed the technological breakthrough to the input it had received from partners.

"This has resulted in a unique optical short throw screen fabric for general use, while in the case of Hisense we have modified our screen material to give them the perfect all-in-one Laser TV flat screen solution — which is bigger and more price competitive than a conventional flat screen."

While Hisense specialises in the over-65" screen sector, at a recent press conference in China to launch the new products they also demonstrated an 85" curved screen using dnp fabric technology and — designed specially for the product launch — a 2 x 2 rear-projection solution with dnp 70" 16:9 XPS screen. "Although 100" is the real driver in this consumer market, it was vital that dnp again played a key role by supplying its unique optical cube screens. This further emphasises our global leadership in this business," Soeren continued.

Hisense see many advantages of Laser TV over convention flat screen LED or OLED, and the dnp man agrees. "It is expected that Laser TV technology will replace conventional technology over time due to the fact that it's cheaper, larger and more 'eye-gonomically' comfortable to view. In addition, it's environmentally friendly and uses proven technology which can be produced with a good light yield

Hisense's Gao Yu Ling predicts that "over the next five years, Laser TV will completely overtake the demand for LED and OLED, in the large TV format."

Their comprehensive product line includes 85", 100" and 120" integrated solutions with a color range of 116% — which is larger than normal TV — and a short throw distance of 0.24. Because of the advanced and comprehensive light path structure, the Hisense technology also offers a much wider light transfer. In addition electrical consumption is only 450W — around one third of a similar flat panel — while the weight is just one tenth of a similar sized flat panel.

Summing up, Soeren Kraemmergaard said: "With the launch of the second generation Laser TV Hisense is proving itself to be a real trailblazer.

"We are proud to support them with OEM screen fabric for their specific laser TV solution as well as other Chinese TV manufacturers. Bearing in mind the size of the Chinese TV consumer market financially this deal is hugely significant to us."
