'Seal Of Approval' For Rotolight ANOVA V2

News Image
Dubbed the world's most advanced LED Floodlight, the Rotolight ANOVA V2 was the recent recipient of the prestigious Guild of Television Cameramen (GTC) 'Seal of Approval' Award at the Guilds annual prize giving in Banbury, Oxfordshire, UK.

The Rotolight ANOVA LED Lighting system has lit the sets of high-profile productions including Coronation Street, EastEnders, and BBC's TV BAFTA-winning series 'In the Flesh', amongst others, and has been recognized by the GTC "as a piece of a equipment that has made an outstanding contribution to the art and craft of the professional television cameraman."

Rotolight's latest update of the ANOVA V2 Bi-Colour LED Floodlight has been developed with the quality of light in mind, featuring 'best in class' LED lighting technology with an overall CRI=95, and Skintone CRI=98. The new range of ANOVAs deliver up to 3.9Kw equivalent output and consume just 38W of power with no heat output. The range of flicker free ANOVA's are recommended for use with High Frame rate cameras such as the Phantom Flex or iMovix by Vision Research and is available in Bi-Colour, and Solo 5600K, each with a choice of Beam angle 110º 'ULTRAWIDE' for soft lighting or 50º 'STANDARD' for greater straight-line output. Each ANOVA unit includes V-Lock battery mount as standard and DMX or Wireless control via the Rotolight Magic Eye iPhone/iPad app.

Run by cameramen for cameramen, the GTC was formed in 1972 and consists of over 1,000 members across the world who work in all aspects of television and boast some of the best lighting cameramen in the business who continuously work for the likes of SKY, BBC, and ITV; from News interviews to high budget dramas and documentaries. Each year, the Guild's council comes together to discuss nominations put forward by Guild members.

"Rotolight have taken the LED Lighting market and turned it on its head with some genuinely innovative designs. The ANOVA V2 is the latest version of their EcoFlood lamp and with its distinctive design and excellent TLCI results it is amongst the best on the market," said the Guild of Television Cameramen.

Previous winners of the Seal of Approval Awards have gone to the likes of the Sony F5 Camera, and the GoPro HD Hero 3.

The ANOVA was recently put through its paces by former BBC Research Engineer and colour science expert Alan Roberts, developer of the Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI), which is fast becoming the industry standard for gauging the quality of broadcast lighting. The ANOVA Bi Colour V2 placed in the top category with a score of 86. According to the TLCI scale, a score of 85 or higher – as achieved by Rotolight – is regarded as ideally suited for professional television/broadcast use with "errors so small that a colourist would not consider correcting them." The ANOVAs will ensure that anything captured in the studio and on location will offer excellent results.

Alex H-French, Rotolight's Marketing and PR Manager, was present at the awards ceremony with International Sales Manager Barry Grubb.

"We are truly humbled to receive such an accolade and be recognized by the Guild for the Rotolight ANOVA V2. We used the feedback from experienced cameramen and users of the ANOVA V1 and focused on the technology behind the LED's to ensure the best quality. Without that feedback we would not be receiving the award today, we would like to thank the Guild for this 'big rubber stamp' of approval," said Alex H-French.

In addition, Rotolight have now confirmed the Rotolight NEO 3 light kit will commence shipping from 22nd June. The Rotolight NEO 3 light kit has been designed for the videographer or photographer on the move. Featuring three innovative on-camera LED Lighting systems, the kit features a selection of extremely useful accessories such as compact lighting stands, 360º ball head swivels, and special FX cinematic gels all self contained in the Tsunami proof Rotolight NEO Flight case. Retails at £1,082.50 ex. VAT.
