Sightline produce 22,000 videos for City of Westminster

Sightline, specialists in producing consultation videos, have produced a video for the City of Westminster to help explain the running of their new housing service which has been taken over by the Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO).
Sightline, a multimedia production house based in Godalming, Surrey, offer cost-effective and creative solutions using the latest digital production resources. The company has over 15-years experience in video, CD-ROM, website, DVD and television advertising.
The council drew upon this experience to produce the videos that would assist the tenants in giving their assent to the ALMO development. The City of Westminster needed to ensure tenants were informed as to who was taking over the running of the housing service and the changes and benefits it will bring to tenants.
In the video, broadcast journalist Martin Bashir talks to tenants directly about their concerns and quizzes council officers about the various issues.
Many councils have been transferring their housing to new social landlords, but with an ALMO manager the council remains the landlord. For tenants it means a new management providing nothing but housing services and it also means new money to help bring their homes up to modern standards.
Sightline delivered the video to each of City of Westminster’s 22,000 tenants and produced transcripts in Arabic, Bengali, Urdu, Farsi, Chinese, Japanese, French and Spanish. The video was a success and Lorna Whitehorn at the City of Westminster said: “We are very proud of our video – which is why we have been handing copies to other councils who are planning to take the ALMO route.”
Using video for consulting with tenants has become normal practice for councils across the UK. It is a powerful and cost-effective medium that can be used to convey complex messages in a friendly and understandable way.
Sightline is the expert in this field having produced videos for over 150 councils and housing organisations over the past 12 years.
