Vimond Powers TV 2 Sumo Web TV Portal Optimized For Windows 8

Norway's TV 2, has unveiled a redesigned Sumo online TV service at the Microsoft Nordic launch of Windows 8 in Stockholm on Oct. 26.
TV 2 Sumo, which is powered by the Vimond Media Platform, has been optimized for the Windows 8 operating system.
"The market has been flooded with a wide range of new devices since we first launched TV 2 Sumo," said Eva Iselin Husby, head of TV 2 Sumo. "It's important for us to meet our users where they are, and that means not only accommodating the devices they use, but also the latest systems that power those devices. By making Sumo compatible with Windows 8, we're ensuring it will keep pace with innovation in the market."
TV 2 worked with Microsoft, Vimond, and its development partner, Knowit, to create a completely new portal that operates within the Windows 8 environment. The new version of Sumo is built upon the graphical interface of Windows 8 with scrolling from left to right and the ability to "favorite" apps and programs in a tile system. It is based on the same new design and profile of Sumo and will be launched to all Sumo platforms including Web, iPad®, and set-top box applications running on RiksTV Extra and Altibox.

The Vimond Media Platform enables a centralized workflow that allows TV 2 Sumo to make services available for viewing on any IP-enabled device owned by a subscriber. After downloading the appropriate client app for each device from a device app store, such as the Windows Store or Apple® App StoresSM, subscribers can watch TV 2 Sumo anywhere they choose, using the same username and password to log in to the service across mobile devices, a connected TV, or a computer. TV 2 Sumo's full range of content — including live TV channels, video-on-demand, and interactive services — can be made available to all devices from the same easy-to-use Vimond workflow.
