Espial To Present HTML5 And Smart TV Technology Seminar In Tokyo
Espial, a leader in on-demand TV software and solutions, today announced that the company is hosting an invitation-only technology seminar titled "HTML5 Apps: The Smart TV Evolution." Taking place July 25 in Tokyo, the event will explore how HTML5 applications have the power to deliver a more compelling and immersive experience using the next generation of Smart TVs.
"HTML5 and its associated technologies optimize the Smart TV application environment through powerful graphics capabilities, simpler coding, faster time to market, and lower cost development, with the potential to augment the Smart TV experience across companion devices, including smartphones, tablets, media streamers, set-top boxes, and game consoles," said Philip Poulidis, vice president of Smart TV, Espial. "Throughout this event, attendees will learn how leveraging an advanced HTML5-based browser can cost-effectively deliver an engaging television experience across multiple devices, chipsets, and regions."
During the seminar, Espial will facilitate a variety of informative presentations, as well as a live panel discussion, led by the industry's top technology experts. Kazuyuki Ashimura, Web and TV activity lead at W3C/Keio, will explore the impact of evolving Web technologies like HTML5 on Smart TVs, the challenges associated with Web standardization, and current usage cases of HTML5 on connected devices. Masahito Kawamori, chairman of the ITU-T IPTV Global Standardization Initiative, will discuss H.762: Lightweight Interactive Multimedia Environment (LIME) and HTML5 profile H.IPTV-HTML, both of which are core components of ITU standardization activities. Shin Korei from the R&D unit of Yahoo! Japan will present on the current status and future prospects of HTML5 usage by Yahoo! Japan. Additionally, Munechika Nishida, freelance writer and author of "Smart TV," will educate attendees on the fundamental technologies that support Smart TVs.
Attendees to the seminar will also receive market research reports from IMS Research and Rider Research, as well as a live demonstration of the Espial TV Browser, a high-performance HTML5 and Webkit browser that accelerates the deployment of TV web browsing, interactive TV content and applications, and over-the-top Web video on a broad range of connected devices, including Smart TVs.
More information about the seminar is available by contacting Yukio Kanemori, Japan country manager of Espial at [email protected]
