Smart TV To Utilise Vinten Radamec Robotics
Smart TV, based at Teddington Studios, London from where they broadcast a range of satellite channel entertainment shows, has recently made their first move into robotic camera support systems with Vinten Radamec.
Smart TV are using four Vinten Radamec 436VR pan and tilt heads in conjunction with a range of Vinten manual pedestals. The sensor-equipped heads are operating with Orad Hi-Tech Systems virtual sets that Smart TV use to integrate live presenters with 3D computer-generated animations or graphics backgrounds.
"The Vinten Radamec 436VR heads gives us much more flexibility in the studio," said Kasim Garipoglu, Managing Director of Smart TV. "It also enables us to deliver more creative broadcasting to our viewers without a major investment in additional resources or presenters. The Vinten Radamec 436VR pan and tilt head is designed to support cameras, lenses and teleprompters weighing up to 50kg and can be used with both manual and robotic pedestals. It is also fully compatible with the new Fusion FCS16 Control System."
Its electro-magnetic design delivers responsive control, precise repeatability of shots and smooth broadcast quality movement. For complete flexibility it has a unique system of clutches enabling the 436VR to be converted to full manual control, with just a simple switch mechanism.
Adjustable fluid head damping comes as standard for perfect feel when under manual control and when returned to remote operation the 436VR retains its current position. The 436VR can also be inverted for installations requiring suspended cameras and track systems.
"The 436VR heads can all be controlled remotely or manually and are very easy to use, so contract staff can adapt to it very quickly," said Kasim Garipoglu. "They are already making a major contribution to our broadcast output and we plan to expand our robotic capabilities with Vinten Radamec in the near future."
