Bob Massie Moves To Head September Films UK

DCD Media-owned September Films, the UK and US based producer of reality television, entertainment and formats has appointed former ITV, 19 and IMG entertainment boss Bob Massie as its Head of Entertainment, based at the company’s UK office in London.
Massie starts immediately, charged with building on September's current slate of shows in the UK, which notably include the Saturday night primetime entertainment series Penn & Teller: Fool Us (ITV1), It’s Now or Never (ITV1), the BAFTA winning game show Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab (BBC), as well as primetime reality shows When Women Rule The World (Channel 4) and Beauty and The Geek (Channel 4).
The move will see Massie reunited with development specialist, Simon Broadley, September’s Head of Development, and Massie says his admiration for Broadley was key to his acceptance of the role. The two worked together at ITV Studios where Massie ran the entertainment team and their partnership helped expand output beyond ITV by winning commissions from Channel 4, Five and Sky One.
Massie's executive producer credits include reality documentaries with both David and Victoria Beckham, The Royal Variety Performance, The Big Breakfast, Friday Night's All Wright, Blind Date and Popstars.
He also set up London News Network but he is perhaps best known for his TV specials, working with a galaxy of world-famous stars including Diana Ross, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Catherine Zeta Jones, Tom Jones, Phil Collins, the BeeGees and Sir Elton John.
Formats he has created have sold around the world, including the hit show I'd Do Anything, which was presented here on BBC1 by his long-time friend Ian Wright, whom he transformed into a TV host while the footballer was still playing for Arsenal. A new format deal with ITV Studios America has just been inked.
Massie joins September after three years running his own consultancy company, Massive TV, working with several partners including Sassy Films, IMG, ITV Studios America, FIFA, James Grant Management, the Sport Entertainment & Media Group (SEM) and The Celtic Manor Resort in Wales, which hosted Ant & Dec's All*Star Cup.
Sammy Nourmand, CEO of September Films, said: “We're thrilled to welcome someone with Bob's stellar track record in Entertainment into our senior UK creative team.”
Bob Massie added: "I'm flattered, excited and really looking forward to working with the team at September Films - and especially cooking up ideas again with Simon Broadley, a real expert in the world of format development".
