South West Screen & UKTI Host Annecy Talk By World Famous Animator

South West Screen and UK Trade & Investment are co-hosting the UK Animation Reception at the prestigious animation festival, featuring a talk by one of the world's leading animators.
Alex Williams, whose past work includes Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Lion King, The Iron Giant and Robots, will present the keynote speech at the UK Animation Reception on June 8 at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
Alex will talk about his experience of working with world famous studios, and his current work with award-winning British animation company Gravy Media, talking about their current projects and the challenges of independent animated film production.
South West Screen, the development agency for film, television and digital media in the South West of England, is co-hosting the UK Animation Reception on behalf of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and alongside exhibition organiser Tradefair, who are hosting the UK Animation stand at the festival this year.
Anthony Story, Head of Innovation at South West Screen, said: "South West Screen are delighted to be co-hosting the UK Animation Reception alongside UKTI at this year's Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
"The UK animation sector has a world-class reputation for creativity and for the use of pioneering techniques and technology.
"We are especially pleased to welcome Alex Williams, one of the most talented animators of the last decade, who will share some of his closely-guarded production secrets."
Gravy Media CEO Nathan Erasmus said: "I think once a great concept has a good script and designs, it should be possible to close down an animated film over three or four key annual film markets. Annecy is definitely one of these events and UKTI is the place to meet the most exciting talents from the UK."
The UK is one of the world's major creative markets and the sector's strengths lie in the UK's global reputation for creativity and innovation. UK creativity is uniquely marketable and sought after by global business.
As well as hearing from Alex Williams, guests at the UK Animation Reception will have the opportunity to meet top animation producers and suppliers from the UK; network with key broadcasters, distributors and financers; meet staff from South West Screen and UKTI overseas staff; and find out what the UK has to offer in terms of facilities and business support for the animation industry.
