GTMP Works On 'Revolutionary' Exhibit

GTMP commissioned the building of a custom 3D stereo rig for Bolton Museum's exhibition 'Revolutionary Town', which opened last month.
The film explores the origins of the textile industry and the story two of the Industrial Revolutions greatest inventors, Samuel Crompton, who invented the spinning mule in 1779 and Richard Arkwright, who invented the industrial cotton spinning mill.
Arthur Harlow and Daren Brady portray the two industrialists, while Francis Gallop wrote the script, Anna Robbins created the costumes and Grant McPhee was Director of Photography.
The film is now running on the lenticular LG screen specifically chosen by the Museum's for its capability of creating a 3D effect without the need of glasses. LG will be using this project as a worldwide showcase for the screen.
In the exhibition space, original oil portraits of both characters hang either side of the screen, so an accurate representation was necessary. The aim of the film was to enhance the experience of the visitor, bringing the characters to life as much as it is possible, rather than creating a fairground experience.
GTMP commissioned the building of a custom 3D stereo rig to mount the two Sony EX3 cameras on their side making full use of the HD chips.
This rig can also be used in landscape with camcorders and stills cameras. GTMP is looking forward to producing more 3D as a serious option for exhibition and broadcast.
