Ofcom Announce Licence Updates

The communications regulator has approved requests from Arqiva Services Limited and British Sky Broadcasting Limited for licence changes to replace Sky Sports News with Sky 3+ 1.
Ofcom found that the change to Arqiva’s multiplex licence would not unacceptably diminish the capacity of the services broadcast to appeal to a variety of tastes and interests. The changes will take effect on a date to be agreed.
Ofcom has also announced the award of seven new community radio licences.
Community radio is provided on a not-for-profit basis focusing on the delivery of specific social benefits to enrich a particular geographical community or a community of interest.
Ofcom has awarded community radio licences to:
  • Betar Bangla (Stratford, east London)
  • Generation Radio (Clapham Park, south west London)
  • Greenwich Kasapah (Greenwich, south east London)
  • Reprezent FM (South London)
  • Rinse FM (Inner London)
  • Streetlife Radio (Waltham Forest, north east London)
  • Susy Radio (Redhill and Reigate, Surrey)
