About Custom Consoles Ltd

Custom Consoles has built its name in the development and manufacture of technical furniture for a client base that includes major broadcasters in Britain, mainland Europe and Asia. The product range includes motorised, manually-adjustable and fixed-height units plus fan-cooled sound-insulated equipment housings.

Custom Consoles specialises in making furniture to individual shapes, sizes and specifications, either from client instructions or from variants of its standard ranges of desks, monitor racks, storage furniture, mobile equipment pods and computer screen supports. The company's Module-R product range enables robust, efficient and attractive control-room desks to be produced quickly and cost-effectively from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs.

The innovative and highly successful Media Wall is designed to accommodate large or small arrays of flat-panel monitors and ancillary equipment. Media Wall incorporates height-adjustable horizontal beams suspended between 2 metre high silver-anodised aluminium columns.

Custom Consoles' Media Desk forms the basis of an ergonomically-efficient and cost-effective working environment for desktop editing systems, allowing users to adjust working posture at their own desk or when operating across several locations. Height adjustment can be made quickly and easily using a retracting handle operating through a geared drive.

System 2 is a multi-element furniture system designed to accommodate free-standing or pod-mounted equipment such as graphics workstations and editing terminals. The latest version has many new features including a front-facing cable-access slot eliminating the need to loop cables from the rear. The System 2 range includes the S2-01B desk and S2-2B, both electrically adjustable in height from 660 to 1,200 mm.

Custom Consoles Module-R and Media Wall Go Live at Telegraph Media

Multilink Broadcast, one of Britain's leading independent system integrators, has chosen a Custom Consoles Module-R desk and Media Wall monitor support frame to accommodate core control and monitoring equipment for the video and audio studio at the Telegraph Media Group headquarters in London Victoria. The control room and studio are used as a hub for realtime content gathering and distribution for various divisions within the group and are also available for use by to third-party clients.

"Module-R provided the basis from which we were able to specify exactly the combination of features required for the control desk," comments Multilink Broadcast Managing Director Dean McNally. "This is a 3.2 metre wide in-line design supported by a 14U high pod on the left and right sides. The centre span is four bays wide with storage space for addition equipment below the desktop. Four 3U high sloping pods for auxiliary equipment occupy the desktop rear, plus a 6U desktop pod on the right.

"The centre-left bay is fitted with a 19 inch liyama touch-screen monitor on an Ergotron operator-adjustable arm. Additional computer monitors are attached in the same way at top left and top right. A rear-sloping anodised aluminium leg provides additional support at the centre of the desk bridge.

"Module-R is very popular with our customers, for its stability and styling as well as its excellent ergonomics. It also provides easy front and rear access to equipment and wiring during initial installation and routine maintenance.

"Media Wall gave us a similar degree of freedom to configure a support structure for the control room's picture and sound monitors. The Media Wall in this case is 2.2 metres wide, 1.8 metres high and half a metre front-to-back. Located directly in front of the desk, it supports two 42 inch LCD screens plus a 24 inch display for the studio clock. Passive near-field loudspeakers are mounted at left and right."

A mix-and-matchable control room furniture system, the Custom Consoles Module-R product range allows aesthetically attractive and long-life desks to be configured to meet specific shapes and dimensions from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19 inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. Coordinated desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10U chassis capacity.

Custom Consoles' Media Wall allows flat-screen monitor displays of practically any width to be constructed from standard horizontal and vertical support elements. Media Wall can be used as a fully self-supporting structure or coupled directly to the studio wall. Individual screens can be positioned so that their edges meet exactly to form a continuous horizontal display limited only by the boundary of the monitor panel itself. All wiring is fully concealed and can enter or leave the structure at any desired point. Media Wall is available in a silver-anodised or black-powder coated finish and in any specified element widths.
