Slovakia Goes For Great Britons-Style 'Hero'
A successful programme format, the Great Britons is to be adapted for audiences in Slovakia.
The news follows a deal between BBC Worldwide and free-to-air broadcaster Slovak TV.
Production is due to start on a local version of the format later this year and brings the total number of territories to have licensed the programme to 22.
The format provides for a search across television, film and literature to find the country's greatest 'national hero of all time'.
It comprises a three-hour introductory episode, 10 x 60-minute instalments of a top 10 and a 90-minute final.
It is the second format deal that BBCW has secured in the territory, having previously sold Dancing With the Stars to STS Markiza. The third series of the Slovak version, Let's Dance, has delivered audiences of over one million during the run.
The 'Great' format achieved the best ever primetime ratings for Greek broadcaster Skai, five times the average, when it aired the Top 100 Greeks in May.
