Trickbox TV Helps Deal Or No Deal On The Move

Trickbox TV has supplied outside broadcasting facilities to Remarkable Television as the game show Deal Or No Deal goes on the move. For the first time, the show took to the road and travelled across the UK, visiting 10 iconic locations with filming taking place over a six-week period.

For the ambitious project, Trickbox TV overcame a number of challenges with complicated locations including access restrictions and a limited timeframe onsite, which resulted in the team adapting the technical setup for each location. The locations included The Eden Project in Cornwall, The Trafford Centre in Manchester, on the moving Flying Scotsman train, a cave at Wookey Hole, Warwick Castle, Longleat Safari Park, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, top of the Blackpool Tower, Alexandra Palace and on board a Boeing 737.

Production company Remarkable Television, part of Endemol Shine, chose Trickbox TV to provide a bespoke flyaway solution for filming. The solution had to enable rigging, recording and de-rigging within a 12-hour period. The multi-camera facilities included up to seven cameras, with one wireless camera system for a Steadicam and different lenses to suit each location. Trickbox TV also provided mirrored recording backups for each programme to limit onsite DIT, plus offer a level of redundancy for the media.

Liam Laminman, Managing Director at Trickbox TV, said: "Taking a show that has been in a studio for over 10 years into an outside broadcast environment was always going to be a challenge. It was really important that at no point, would the production team, crew or Noel [Edmonds], feel like the facilities that Trickbox TV provided would be a compromise from the studio facilities that they had been used to."

A spokesperson at Remarkable Television said: "With a run of almost 3,000 episodes and more than a decade on UK screens, these games are set to be some of the most exciting and truly unique yet. Trickbox TV allowed us to be creative with the tour's locations and the sky was quite literally the limit."

The first episode of the Deal Or No Deal specials will air on 12 December, 2016 on Channel 4 at 4pm.
