Tim Hunt Joins Freeview As New Director Of Marketing Communications
Freeview has appointed Tim Hunt as Director of Marketing Communications.
Tim replaces Rob Farmer who joins ITV as Director of Viewer Marketing at the beginning of May.
As Director of Marketing Communications, Tim will be responsible for shaping and leading the integrated marketing and PR campaigns for Freeview, the UK's largest television platform.
In particular, he will be responsible for leading the communication of Freeview's latest success story, Freeview+, which has topped 1.4 million box sales since its launch in 2007, as well as launching Freeview HD as the service becomes available through switchover regions from the end of this year. He will report to Freeview's Managing Director, IIse Howling and sit on the Freeview Board.
Before taking up his new role at Freeview, he was the Marketing Director at Project Kangaroo, the proposed video-on-demand joint venture between Channel 4, BBC Worldwide and ITV.
Announcing the appointment, IIse Howling, Managing Director at Freeview said: "I'm delighted to have Tim on board. His experience of leading consumer marketing campaigns that effectively communicate the benefits of technology in a digital world will be invaluable to the evolution of Freeview."
Tim Hunt said: "Freeview is a great British success story and the platform of choice for millions of families. I am hugely excited at the opportunity to help take the platform to the next level with Freeview+ and launch our HD service. We have a great opportunity with these new services and I believe that in the current economic climate, Freeview's subscription-free proposition is more relevant than ever to UK consumers."
Tim brings a wealth of broadcast and television experience, having previously been Marketing Director of Sky Italia as well as having founded Velvet Shark - the entertainment a strategy consultancy whose clients include Disney, ITV, and Nickelodeon amongst others.
Prior to this, Tim was Managing Partner at creative ad agency St Luke's where he led award-winning campaigns for BSkyB, COI and Eurostar amongst others.
Freeview's marketing arm has been further strengthened with the recent arrival of Owen Jenkinson as Marketing Manager.
Owen brings with him a number of years of TV and entertainment marketing experience. Prior to joining Freeview, Jenkinson was Marketing Manager at PlayStation, where he was responsible for the launch of GO!VIEW, the video on demand service for the PlayStation Portable.
Before that, he was part of the 4oD launch team at Channel 4. He's also worked for several advertising agencies including Proximity London, IMP and Summer Communications.
