Aspera Helps JCA.tv Connect Broadcasters And Studios Faster

The longstanding, dedicated service provider to the film and television industry, JCA.tv, is using Aspera's file transfer technology for faster and more secure automated file transmissions via its online portal for content owners, broadcasters and studio customers.
Transferring files such as news stories, sport and archive material and general distribution content, the Aspera Connect Server enables quicker and more secure managed transmissions.
JCA.tv works with clients such as BBC, Channel 4, DRG, Entertainment Rights, NBC Universal and Kidsco to supply services including encoding, transcoding, digital transmission workflows, content management and file delivery.
Simon Kay, Managing Director at JCA.tv, said: "Our broadcast clients wanted to be able to send high resolution files around the world on an ad hoc basis. We set up an integrated client online portal to allow file transmissions but we were facing bandwidth, security and time lag issues at the receiver end.
"We'd already worked with Aspera for some of our point to point transmission preparation clients and their solution was an ideal fit for our online portal - we now have much quicker delivery times and it also lends a level of credibility to the whole package that we offer."
The online portal powered by JCA.tv and Aspera provides clients with an ad hoc file delivery service with the added benefit of a permission access area which allows clients to determine for themselves who can have access to their hosted content.
Kay continued: "Our clients have sensitive materials which have to be delivered to the right people. They have to have control over when they send them and also ensure that this doesn't take days at a time.
"The other benefit of Aspera's shorter transfer times is that there's less margin for error and piracy - with a secure log-in, the broadcasters and studios have more faith in our web portal and transfer systems."
Kay concluded: "Every client of ours has different requirements and we need to be flexible to accommodate each request. We expect a lot of digital expansion in the future and we'll be tailoring our services to what our clients need. Having worked with Aspera for a while, the relationship's already there and the technology they provide caters perfectly to us and our customers."
