New Efficiencies For A&E Television Network's File-Based Workflows

A specialist in the development and delivery of solutions and services via its Mediaflex system, TransMedia Dynamics (TMD), has announced that its enterprise-wide Mediaflex architecture has been implemented in Ascent Media's origination facility for A&E Television Networks (AETN) in Stamford, CT.
Ascent Media provides ingest and archiving services for AETN and also provides Mediaflex functionality, including content browsing and editing, on AETN desktops as a service. As a result, Mediaflex now manages the movement and tracking of all the physical (tape) and digital-file-based assets throughout Ascent Media's AETN facility.
Jim McGrath, of Ascent Media Network Services, said: "Mediaflex is very media and location aware in a way that is just not achievable elsewhere. It not only has the ability to quickly and accurately locate, track and move media no matter where it is in the workflow, it also cleans up after itself, which greatly minimises the need for operator intervention.
"The strong workflow management component of Mediaflex was very appealing and it is now an integral part of an overall system that enables us to efficiently manage AETN's video asset libraries as well as integrate seamlessly with business management and automation systems."
TMD's Mediaflex system enables media organisations to manage both physical media and digital file-based content with their associated workflows and is designed to achieve high-throughput media production as well as significant advancements in process integration, making all aspects of the process far more efficient and less labour intensive.
TMD Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tom Taylor said: "Ascent Media and AETN have built a very impressive, state-of-the-art file-based system and we are proud to be such a key part of their operation.
"The successful and accelerating implementation of Mediaflex across the broadcast space has already prompted us to greatly expand our US operations. As the multiple advantages of Mediaflex become even better known, the benefits will accrue to our current and prospective customers around the world."
