British Talent Tipped For Oscar Success

The contenders for the 81st annual Academy Awards have today been announced, with Slumdog Millionaire and Kate Winslet leading the way for British talent.
Lancashire-born filmmaker Danny Boyle's Mumbai-set epic has been nominated for 10 Oscar's, including Best Film.
Meanwhile Kate Winslet has been nominated for Best Actress for her role as a former concentration guard in Stephen Daltry's The Reader.
This follows the actress' success at both the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice awards, were she was recognised for best actress in a drama for Revolutionary Road.
The 33-year-old also has two Bafta nominations for the parts.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has emerged as the forerunner for this year's awards ceremony, with a total of 13 nominations.
The film is joined by Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader and Slum Millionaire in the nominees for Best Film.
Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Angeline Jolie (The Changeling), Melissa Leo (Frozen River) will battle Winslet for the accolade of Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Meanwhile, Brad Pitt is up against Mickey Rourke, (The Wrestler) Frank Langhella (Frost Nixon), Sean Penn (Milk) and Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) for the coveted award of Best Actor.
Heath Ledger has also earned a posthumous award for his role as the Joker in the Batman blockbuster 'The Dark Night', on the one-year anniversary of his death.
The awards will be announced on 22 February at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, presented by actor Hugh Jackman.
