Phabrix Wins The IABM Peter Wayne Award For Design And Innovation 2008

Phabrix has won the coveted Peter Wayne Award for Design and Innovation by the IABM.
Commenting on the win, Phabrix's Founder and Managing Director Phillip Adams said: "I have to say it was a very proud moment in my career to receive the coveted IABM Peter Wayne Design and Innovation Award. The competition for this award was exemplary and each was worthy of the prize.
"Winning this award adds so much to promoting Phabrix and the SxA in the industry and all of us at Phabrix are extremely grateful for the IABM's support and recognition."
The Phabrix SxA has been designed to cater to the needs of the professional broadcast engineer who needs a portable solution for the growing sophisticated test requirement in the broadcast engineering industry.
The Phabrix SxA supports 3G-SDI, HD-HDI, SD-SDI video plus AES audio testing and monitoring - a world's first for such a product.
Additionally, the SxA affords the unique combination of 3G, HD and SD testing and the ability to generate, analyse and monitor test signals in a single unit.
The SxA stands out as an affordable portable highly technically advanced testing device for use in the studio, outside broadcast installations, broadcast stations and for remote testing of installed equipment. With the implementation of many differing standards in broadcast, the Sx is the first product to launch supporting the new 3G standard alongside HD and SD.
The Sx can also generate at one standard and analyse at many. The integrated generator/analyser is closed loop for control. The Sx has its own reference in lock with auto Bi-level, Tri-level and SDI genlock with cross lock capability.
The operating system chosen for the Sx is Linux, providing the advantages of open source development, upgrade simplicity, a mature system environment and enhanced networking facilities which have been implemented in the Sx's remote control functions.
The development engineering consists largely of modular FPGA design allowing rapid re-use of the technology. The FPGA's perform video test pattern generation and TX, zone plate generation, video RX analysis and capture, video scaling for the artifact free display of all 3G/HD/SD SDI video formats on a 4.3" TFT display, video keying and mixing, EDH/CRC insertion and analysis, scrambling, word alignment, TFT display driving, waveform monitor, vectorscope, audio metering, PLL control and clock generation, audio embeddng, audio de-embedding, audio processing, sine wave and white noise audio generation amongst others. This technology has only just been made available allowing Phabrix to describe the Sx as the world's first hand-held 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI video and audio test signal generator, analyser and monitor. By using this new cost effective technology the Phabrix Sx has become affordable in comparison with more traditional with more traditional bench bound products with similar features.
