Protape Announce Winner Of Broadcast Live/Video Forum Competition

Protape, the London-based media supply specialist for professionals, have announced the lucky winner of the competition they ran on their web-site in January and February, and also from their stand at the Broadcast Live/Video Forum show in February.
The competition had over 600 entrants in total, all hoping that they would be the winner of the £1,500 Sony HVR-A1E HDV camcorder Protape had put up as the prize.
Given the number of broadcast professionals at the Broadcast Live and Video Forum show, and the high number of people that entered the competition there, it was no surprise to find that the winner of the HVR-1AE is an industry professional who entered the competition at the show.
Simon Webb is the founder of editing and post-production house SJW Editing Facilities, based in Soho's Poland Street. Now in its eighth year, SJW provides digital editing and post facilities to a diverse range of broadcast and corporate clients, including BBC News 24, Channel 4, MTV, Hewlett Packard and American Express.
Mr Webb commented: "I don't go to Broadcast Live every year, but this year we're looking at the latest developments in HD technology with a view to eventually upgrading our facilities here, so I went along.
"I know Protape, as my office used to be right opposite theirs in Percy Street and they had some good deals on media at the show, so I went along to do a bit of a stock run!"
Although SJW is primarily and editing and post facility, Webb sees an opportunity to use his new acquisition for some of his corporate clients. He said: "A lot of the work we do for our corporate clients involves editing very simple videos of the MD appearing as a talking head.
"At present, they hire a freelance cameraman to shoot the footage and then give it to us to finish. With the new camera, we could offer our clients the complete package, and in HD too. So, I'm delighted to have won and very pleased I called in at Protape's stand."
Protape are authorised distributors for the world's leading media brands, including Sony, Fuji, LaCie and Avastor and have been supplying the UK recording, broadcast and film-making industries with quality blank recording media for nearly 20 years.
