KMR Audio Supplies API Console To Fish Factory

Audio consultancy and equipment supplier KMR Audio Ltd has supplied a 32 channel API legacy Plus console to Willesden's Fish Factory Studios, the first of its kind in the UK.
The Fish Factory may be north London's best-kept secret as it does not trumpet its location, is tough to find and is owned and run by the enigmatic Italian Antonio, whose surname remains a mystery.
Artists such as Lily Allen, Kate Nash, Zero 7 and Kula Shaker, to name but a few, certainly know of it though, and have recorded recent albums there.
The emphasis at the Fish Factory is very definitely on sonic excellence with no compromise.
Until recently, the studio was equipped with a Neve console. Antonio said: "The previous desk had that unique Neve sound, but it was old and beginning to cause problems. The API is not only fabulous to use and virtually noiseless, it has that wonderful analogue sound that is so instantly satisfying. I am so pleased with it."
The studio uses not only the ubiquitous ProTools system, but also features a Studer 16 track 2" analogue tape machine which is well used by artists searching for that realism so often missing from today's recordings.
Antonio said: "We have produced a lot of fantastic jazz recordings by some of the top London jazz musicians who come here for the traditional analogue studio sound. They often play and record everything at once. The result is a real performance. The API is perfect for this type of recording."
