Visual TV To Use LinkHD Wireless Links At The Rugby World Cup

Visual TV, one of France's most successful production companies for sports and special events, is using LinkHD systems from Link Research to cover the Rugby World Cup.
The wireless camera systems were supplied by Comat Metracom, specialists in broadcast and RF equipment. Comat provides a comprehensive support for its customers from its Paris office.
Visual has already completed several major large-scale event with multiple wireless HD cameras - including the Route de Rhum yacht race at St Malo with nine High Definition wireless links last year.
LinkHD is the wireless camera system for High Definition from Link Research. "LinkHD is a good choice for sports events on this scale because it was the first to offer a 50 millisecond delay in HD. In sports, this is a huge advantage," said Yves Le Moing of Comat.
Stephane Alessandri at Visual TV said: "We are covering two entire stadiums and will have an RF camera at each one on Steadycam. There is very good local support for the LinkHD in France."
The Rugby World Cup starts on 7th September, with the majority of the matches coming from French stadiums, and a few from Cardiff and Edinburgh.
Visual TV has an all-digital production chain and can provide cameras, motorbikes, long-range RF links and stabilised shoulder-held cameras. Visual has also worked on the Paris Dakar Rally, the Cannes Film Festival and many top French TV shows.
Link Research offers a choice of RF operating frequencies for its systems and an option to add camera control, which works with the camera manufacturer's OCP.
The company's newest product, the Link L1500 transmitter, will be on show at IBC stand 1.161.
