Ortusmedia Supplies IDX Endura Batteries To Presteigne Broadcast Hire

Ortusmedia has supplied a range of IDX ENDURA batteries, chargers and accessories to Presteigne Broadcast Hire.
The new equipment adds to existing IDX portable power gear at the equipment hire and support company to supply its growing inventory of HD camera systems.
The largest requirement was for the RF department to power HD1500 and Thomson Grass Valley LDK 6000 portable HD cameras complete with Gigawave and Link Research HD radio cameras. Here ENDURA E-10 batteries were selected to provide enough run time to reach the natural break of halftime in football coverage for battery changes. Another consideration was the weight: the camera assembly had to be the right weight balance for the cameramen. Twelve new sets of four E-10 batteries and a VL-4S four-channel simultaneous charger are now in service. Colin Tomlin, Presteigne’s head of RF, said: “The IDX ENDURA products are very good and come complete with a V-Mount as standard, that suits us as they fit straight onto most of our cameras. But its after-sales service is second to none and that was a big factor in our choice. There are no dramas about service, never a quibble; it’s just sorted and that’s exactly what we need.”
E-10 batteries were also chosen to power Canon Digisuper XJ100, 72 and 6 HDTV box lenses. These were supplied as two-battery kits with a VL-2Plus 2-channel sequential quick charger and power supply. 

Other equipment includes V-Mount plates and adapters as well as X3 Lites, the LED camera lights. While all the above equipment is deigned for location work, Presteigne have also purchased two MC-8i 8-channel wall-mount charger panels that provide simultaneous fast charging for the batteries when at base. The MC-8i chargers also display battery ‘intelligence’, information that offers a useful health check before the batteries are back out on the road.
The IDX equipment has already been out at many locations including the Red Bull Air Race, The FA Cup Final at Wembley, International cricket and the finals at Wimbledon Tennis.
