Autodesk Appoints Sylwan As Senior Film And Television Industry Manager

Autodesk has announced that Sebastian Sylwan has joined Autodesk Media & Entertainment as senior film and television industry manager. Based in Los Angeles, Sylwan is responsible for researching market opportunities and trends in the global film and television markets. He is working closely with Autodesk’s customers and partners to further the understanding and use of digital technologies.
“We welcome Sebastian Sylwan to the team,” said Marc Petit, senior vice president, Autodesk Media & Entertainment. “He has deep business and technical knowledge. His experience in the industry will be invaluable for Autodesk and for our customers. His insights will help ensure that our products meet our customers’ production challenges and allow us to extend our leadership into new areas.”
Sylwan commented: “I’m very proud to have been asked to lead Autodesk’s presence in the film and television industries. I’ve been an Autodesk client for many years. I’m excited to have this new opportunity to drive product strategy, and to ensure that Autodesk meets the needs of clients today and in the future.”
Sylwan was previously director of technology at Digital Domain, an Academy Award-winning creative content facility. He successfully renewed Digital Domain’s technology infrastructure and helped it venture into new areas like the development of the facility’s first stereoscopic rendition of a computer-generated animated film.
Sylwan has also served as principal technology advisor at the University of Southern California’s Institute for Creative Technologies. In this capacity, Sylwan led the Light Stage 6 project, which entailed co-design and construction of the world’s largest and most-advanced reflectance field capture device. Light stage technology is used for computer graphics research and is now present in many of the most advanced Hollywood feature films’ visual effects pipelines.
While living in Italy, Sylwan built Lumiq S.p.A, the country’s largest production, post-production and 3D character animation studio. Sylwan was also the first Autodesk Flint visual effects system artist in Italy.
