Red Bee Media Business Development Restructure

Red Bee Media has restructured its business development team following John Phipps’ appointment in February this year to the role of Director of Sales.
As part of this restructure John has appointed two new people; Karl Stone has been appointed to the role of Head of Business Development, Piero and Neil McLaren to the position of Head of Business Development, Media Management.
Stone has previously worked selling the entire range of Leitch products in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and at Tektronix UK where he introduced the Profile video server to the UK live OB market and achieved significant sales as a result. Karl will take forward the sales of Piero, Red Bee Media’s multi-award winning 3D sports graphics technology. Piero is being used by broadcasters around the world in their analysis of football and rugby games and is currently being adapted for a variety of sports.
McLaren joins Red Bee Media from Harris Corporation where he marketed software systems in the EMEA region. He has also previously worked at Arkemedia (part of Encoda Systems) where he successfully sold and marketed digital asset management to rights holders and platform owners. Neil will use this experience in his new role to develop Digital Hive, Red Bee Media’s one-stop-shop to help clients get content onto new platforms including mobile devices and broadband/IPTV.
“The Business Development team is now structured to reflect our solution offerings which include; Playout, Access, Mobile, IPTV/Broadband, Media Management and Piero. I am delighted to welcome Neil and Karl to my team at Red Bee Media. They both have invaluable experience that will help grow sales and develop this unique company further,” said John Phipps, Director of Sales at Red Bee Media.
As part of the restructure, Kay Hutchison has moved into the role of Director of Partnerships. Kay has worked at the company since 2003 helping to commercialise BBC Broadcast (Red Bee Media’s former name) and built the current client management team. Previously Kay headed up the promotions teams at both Five and Disney Channel UK and helped to launch these channels. At Red Bee Media Kay will now be focussing on building partnerships with companies to provide innovative solutions to our clients.
John continues: “As the IT, communications and media markets converge Red Bee Media is ideally placed to help companies as they look to enhance their solution offerings by adding a rich media component. We are in the unique position of having 40 years of audience understanding and an innovative approach to placing content on new platforms.”
