Off The Fence Lead The Pack At Wildlife Film Awards

Amsterdam-based independent production and distribution company 'Off the Fence' is celebrating an exciting array of recent award wins for a slew of its world class documentaries.
The first win came at the Wildlife Asia Film Festival’s Lion Awards, awarded in Singapore in mid March. Produced with Michael Patrick Wong, Off the Fence’s Borneo’s Pygmy Elephants (1 x 1 hour) an incredible tale revealing the most intimate secrets of elephant family life from deep within Borneo’s jungle picked up the Echidna Award for Conservation Film / VNR / News; while stable mate Cherub of the Mist (1 x 1 hour) from Bedi Films which unravels the mystery behind the secret life of Red Pandas, won The Loris Award for Best Asian Wildlife Film.
Held in Albert, France from March 17-25, the International Wildlife Film Festival held more rewards for Cherub of the Mist, scooping three gongs: the Award for the Protection of Animals, Award of the Audience and the Special Awards of the Young Audience. Produced by MC4 and Matin & Soir Films, A Kingdom for The Dzanga Gorillas (1 x 1 hour) documents the struggle to save the habitat of the Congo’s Gorillas and was presented with the Award for The Knowledge and Relations between Man and Animal.
Africa’s Outsiders (1x 1 hour) was a stand-out at the International Wildlife Film Festival, which will be presented at ceremony at the festival in Montana, May 12-19. Produced by Off the Fence with Aquavision TV Productions, Africa’s Outsiders tells the tale of three animals - a White Lion, a Yellow Crocodile and a White Baboon – who stand out from the crowd, and so must work harder to survive. The documentary won Best Narration, and scored Merit Awards also for Script, Narration and Innovative Storytelling.
Also in line for awards at the International Wildlife Film Festival are Borneo’s Pygmy Elephants, set to collect for Best Human-Wildlife Interaction, while Ocean Voyagers, (1 x 1 hour / 72 minute feature length) from Feodor Pitcairn Productions with Off the Fence has earned a Merit for Underwater Cinematography in the Theatrically Released Category. Ocean Voyagers offers a startlingly intimate portrait of Humpback life by telling the story of the relationship between a mother whale, Virgule, and her baby, Petit Point.
Commenting on the success, Managing Director Ellen Windemuth said: "We are thrilled with the performance of these key Off the Fence titles at both recent and upcoming festivals. To be acknowledged in this way by our peers means a great deal and certainly inspires us to continuing to produce world class content, which we know will be appreciated by broadcasters and our industry colleagues alike."
