Film embraces music at the European Film Awards 2005

When the 1,200 guests at the 18th edition of the European Film Awards take their seats at Berlin's Arena on Saturday, December 3, they will be welcomed once again by the renowned German actor Heino Ferch.
The evening's host who has already moderated the Awards Ceremony two years ago will take the audience on a cinematic tour through Europe.
The ceremony will include the Flemish Radio Symphonic Orchestra under Dirk Brossé with a tribute to film music and each of the films nominated as European Film 2005 will receive a special introduction: The great European composers Bruno Coulais, Frédéric Devreese, Gabriel Yared, Dirk Brossé, Alberto Iglesias and Stephen Warbeck will each act as a patron for one nominated film. Once again film students from across Europe have created filmed postcards from their home cities Brussels, Rome, Kiev, Copenhagen and Zagreb.
As a highlight of the evening, Sir Sean Connery will be presented with the European Film Academy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Under the artistic direction of German director Pepe Danquart, the TV broadcast, directed by one of Germany's most experienced TV directors for live events, Volker Weickert, will be transmitted on the following day to an unprecedented number of territories.
The event will be produced in co-operation with Germany's public broadcaster ZDF and the European culture channel ARTE. ARTE will again cover the European Film Awards as part of a thematic evening dedicated to European film.
