Rushes Series Marks Tennents' Support Of Scottish Football

Directed by Phil Taylor, shot on location in Italy, France and Scotland ‘National Side’ is a beautifully photographed commercial for Tennents Lager, Scotland’s number one consumer brand.
The commercial announces its four year sponsorship of the Scotland Senior Squad, Scotland B Squad and Scotland’s Women’ Senior Squad teams with immediate effect. This is the first in a series with the post work being carried out by leading post production facility, Rushes.
The commercial contains a series of vignettes from different locations around the world and an indication of the number of people they can each hold.
The name of each place appears on the screen, for example, The Spanish Steps in Rome, a taxi in Ukraine and a sofa in Inverness all followed by its capacity. It culminates with an image of Hampden Park Stadium, the home of Scottish football and it’s capacity of 52,063.
Rushes have produced some simple and well-executed VFX shots and have designed and implemented a unifying graphic device that works sympathetically within each of the environments pulling them all together. Adrian Seery, Director of Telecine, applied a cool blue grade to the films to give a sophisticated and clean look.
The end scene that shows Hampden Park at night was created using multiple motion control passes, combined in Flame.
