Female Talent In The Spotlight At Women's Film Festival

Birds Eye View Film Festival 2006 will be presenting their first documentary-focused programme offering a much-needed platform for cutting edge female talent.
The third part of the programme takes place September 15-17.
Birds Eye View launched the first major women's film festival in 2005. The festival is devoted exclusively to the work of women. Its inception was prompted by the lack of female representation in the media industries. Whilst film is the most powerful medium in the world, only seven percent of directors are women.
The Birds Eye View Film Festival, which offers a split programme over March, June and September, culminates in a presentation of inspirational international documentaries.
Thirteen documentaries will screen over three days in London's premiere arts venue, the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA). The programme will showcase award winning talent from around the world, and traverse subjects including taxidermy, octogenarian cabaret dancers, the environmental impact of Death Valley and the emotional impact of Hurricane Katrina.
Birds Eye View is supported by luminaries such as Joanna Lumley, Jerry Hall, Juliet Stevenson and Alison Steadman.
