FremantleMedia takes Live From Abbey Road to the world

Fremantle International Distribution (FID), the distribution arm of global production outfit FremantleMedia, has picked up the rights to distribute the groundbreaking music series, Live From Abbey Road, which will see some of the world’s biggest artists such as The Killers, The Who, Paul Simon and Diana Ross, perform some of their greatest hits in the world renowned Abbey Road Studios.
Under an exclusive global deal with Live From Abbey Road Limited, FID is set to take Live From Abbey Road to broadcasters worldwide. The major new 12 x 60 minute music series will have its premiere on the UK’s Channel 4 in November 2006, coinciding with the studios’ 75th anniversary.
Live from Abbey Road is currently being filmed at the legendary north London studios and will feature a host of international A-list artists, both new and established. Each one hour episode will offer a unique insight into the world of the musician and the magical process of music making, as they rehearse, discuss their work, and build towards the final exclusive performance. Artists on the bill to date include Paul Simon, Richard Ashcroft, The Killers, The Who, LeAnn Rimes, David Gilmour, Dave Matthews, Massive Attack, Corinne Bailey Rae and Diana Ross, with many more to follow.
Producers of Live From Abbey Road, Michael Gleason and Peter Van Hooke said: “We are delighted to have Fremantle International Distribution as our programme distributor. Their proven and impressive track record in selling programmes to major international markets will ensure that this great new series will become a major global broadcast brand.”
David Ellender, CEO FremantleMedia Enterprises added: “Live from Abbey Road will undoubtedly provide a compelling look at the music industry from the inside out. Through iconic figures from the past, and up and coming stars, viewers will see the influence that Abbey Road has had on so many careers and the way it has shaped our favourite songs. We are proud to be bringing Live from Abbey Road to music lovers the world over and we are sure the series will make broadcasting history by becoming the first truly international music show.”
