SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA ANNOUNCE NEW SET-TOP BOX

SCIENTIFIC Atlanta, manufacturers of communication networks have announced a New Explorer set-top box which will be available in 2001 to cable operators in Europe.
The company previewed the new interactive Explorer 3100DVB model, promising faster processor and added memory. The architecture will allow operators to offer consumers graphic-intensive applications in addition to two-way interactive features, such as TV-based e-mail, T-commerce, enhanced TV, and video-on-demand.
Over 2.3 million Explorer family set-tops have already been deployed in Europe. The company previously announced an order for 250,000 Explorer 3100DVB set-top boxes from UK cable providers, NTL.
