RADIO TIMES GOES INTERACTIVE

RADIO Times are to be the exclusive suppliers of programme choices and recommendations for users of the new personal video recorder TiVo.
The deal means viewers of the system’s on-screen Inside TiVo magazine will be guided by the selections of Radio Times’ television experts and critics, whose choices are already read by 3.52 million people each week.
Ashley Munday, Publisher Radio Times, said: “TiVo will change the way people view their TV and that is something we want to understand. We’re delighted to be part of the new frontier with TiVo and Sky, their partners in the UK. Radio Times-branded guidance and recommendations to the best thing on TV will help people get the most out of the service.”
The TiVo box incorporates an intelligent system, which users can teach to record their favourite programmes. It will also record programmes in specific genres for viewers.
Other features include TiVo’s Season pass, which will record every episode of a series, and the box can also pause live television broadcasts for up to 30 minutes.
Radio Times’ recommendations will help viewers decide what to watch in the multi-channel environment, and draw their attention to the quality broadcasting which interests them.
