DISCTRONICS’ UK PLANT RECEIVES IRMA ACCREDITATION

DISCTRONICS have announced that following a successful audit, their UK plant at Southwater received accreditation under the International Recording Media Association (IRMA) Anti-Piracy Compliance Programme on November 9.
The IRMA guidelines, which were developed for replication plants to work within for the protection of all concerned, have received widespread industry support. They were devised by The International Recording Media Association , who represent the whole of the optical media industry, along with content holders such as Recording Industry of America (RIAA), International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), Business Software Alliance (BSA) and Motion Picture Association (MPA).
Using those guidelines as a basis, it is the individual plant’s responsibility to devise their own manual. The programme is then undertaken, followed by an audit prior to accreditation. Follow-up audits are carried out to ensure compliance.
Distronics Vice-President Security & Compliance, Peter Wallace, said: “We are delighted to receive the accreditation at our Southwater plant. At Disctronics, piracy is everyone’s concern and being the first to achieve ‘IRMA Certified Plant’ status in Europe, reiterates our long-standing commitment to Anti-Piracy procedures. We are also very grateful to our customers who have assisted in the development of this programme.”
Disctronics introduced the programme to their sites in the UK, Italy and France following the successful accreditation of their facility in Texas, which in turn was the first non-trial plant to be accredited in the USA.
The company anticipates that the French and Italian facilities will follow suit in the near future.
