SCREENWRITER’S WORKSHOP UNVEIL NEW EVENTS

THE SCREENWRITER’S Workshop (SW) has unveiled a new line up of events and courses, which will be held at their new location in Whitfield Place, in London.
Former SW Chairman Alan Denman has stepped down to concentrate on the SW’s events programme and Katherine Kay has been elected as the new Chairman. An established writer, Kay’s credits include ‘Casualty’ and ‘Emmerdale’.
In a new initiative the New Producer’s Alliance (NPA) have teamed up with SW for networking nights. The initiative aims to link writers and producers to find out what they want. The project hopes to develop a closer understanding of how writers and producers work together, and in turn provide a structure for writer and producer teams to develop their projects to industry standard.
The next networking NPA night will be held at 7pm on December 12 at the Crown and Two Chairman, 31 Dean St, London.
Another new initiative, from SW member Gary Sutton, who has worked in both the US and UK film industries, is the setting up of a workshop registration service (SRS). This has been modelled along the lines of the Writers’ Guild of America, so that UK Screenwriters can register their scripts. Registration costs £25.
