Stage One builds ITV regional news sets

Stage One, one of Europe’s leading scenic contractors, has been helping give ITV regional news programmes a fresh look with a series of brand new studio sets.
Awarded the contract by ITV’s chosen designer, Simon Jago of Jago Design Ltd., Stage One was tasked with ensuring that Simon’s creative and artistic design was translated into reality.
“We are delighted to be working with Simon Jago on such a high profile project,” said Mark Johnson, Managing Director, Stage One. He continued: “Stage One prides itself on attention to detail and in the visual arena of television this is of course vitally important.”
Simon Jago added: “The new sets are based on an identical design, but incorporate an iconic regional image. This helps to form a coherent and stylish consensus for all of ITV’s regional news programmes.”
Fully built and installed by Stage One, each set takes around two weeks to complete and consists of; a curved rear wall, screen tunnel, two plasma screens (suspended on stainless steel posts) and a staging unit upon which the new perspex newsdesk/coffee table is sited. Finally, for each set, Stage One constructed bench seating for the presenters and two guest seating areas.
The project got under way in December 2004 and the new sets have been rolling out across the regions since then.
Stage One has already built the news sets for the ITV regions of Granada, Yorkshire, West, Tyne Tees, West Country, Anglia (2 sets) and Wales, with Border and Central’s creative makeover imminent.
