BBC’S ‘WEAKEST LINK’ FORGES STRONG TIES
THE BBC have confirmed that they have signed deals with television companies in Australia, France, Italy, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Israel, Portugal, India and also with US network NBC to screen an American version of ‘The Weakest Link’.
The deals are reported to be worth around £6m, and it could be worth more if the US version proves to be a success.
A pilot version, presented by Anne Robinson, was filmed in London on January 11 starring American citizens for the NBC Weakest Link.
Although it has not yet been confirmed if Anne Robinson will be the presenter, the BBC’s ‘Weakest Link’ production team will travel to America in May to film 13 prime time shows.
BBC Worldwide are continuing discussions with other broadcasters around the world about selling the licence for ‘The Weakest Link’ format. (CD)
