READING based Quartz Electronics have recently delivered a Q128 serial digital video router to N.O.B, the Dutch Broadcasting Services Corporation.
The Q128 router was chosen on the basis of N.O.B's successful experience with a number of smaller Quartz routers. It is being used for programme copying at the facility's audio and videotape archive.
N.O.B Senior Engineer Hans Kolkmann said that the Q128 fitted N.O.B's needs exactly: "We use the Quartz Q128 for routing Digital Beta and analogue Beta VTRs, these are shared between several suites. The Q128 fulfilled our requirement for a large matrix able to route all the machines to each other and back. We are also going to use the Q128 for digital monitoring."
Occupying just 12RU, the router has an ultra-shallow chassis (150mm front-to-back), simplifying the task of rear cable installation. The Q128 employs front access, hot-swappable modules and is expandable from 32 x 32 upwards to suit most applications.
Formed in 1990, Quartz Electronics manufactures routing and system-control equipment producing solutions that match the technical and operational demands imposed in live broadcasting.
With an expanding product range designed to be cost-effective, versatile and space-efficient Quartz offers high-grade technical support. Progressing into their second decade, the company said that their strategy is to apply engineering excellence to meet present and future broadcast requirements.
The N.O.B Q128 purchase was made through Quartz' Benelux distributor, N.I.C.E, based in Apeldoorn. (SP)
