FILM COUNCIL APPOINT NEW REGIONAL EXECUTIVE

THE New Cinema Fund have appointed Alex Usborne as the Senior Executive for the regions and nations.
Usborne will work to encourage film-makers across the UK to take advantage of the New Cinema Fund's £5 million commitment to support creativity, innovation, new talent and ‘cutting-edge’ film-making as recently outlined in the Film Council's new strategy specifically for supporting and developing film in the English regions.
The Film Council will be demonstrating their commitment to the regions by opening their regional office in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
Paul Trijbits, Head of the New Cinema Fund, said: "We are immensely excited to have Alex on board to oversee film-making in the nations and regions. His extensive experience and commitment to the film industry makes him an invaluable asset to our team."
Usborne previously ran his own company Picture Palace North based in Sheffield for over a decade and has produced successful feature films such as ‘The Acid House’, ‘Tales From a Hard City’ and ‘Large’.
Usborne said: "I grew up in Sheffield and I am intensely passionate about storytelling and film-making in the nations and regions as well as taking responsibility for the New Cinema Fund's investment in short film-making.
“This post gives me the opportunity to make a real difference in these areas. I've always been interested in stories with heart, soul and passion and I want to contribute to making the New Cinema Fund the most exciting springboard for film-making in the UK." (CD)
